Breaking up the conventional form of debate

Samarbejde med Kim Sandra Rask, Stine Gro og Christian Bang Jensen.

Vi var en gruppe af fire studerende fra Det Jyske Kunstakademi, Det Fynske- og Det Kongelige Danske Kunstakademi. Kunsten.nu havde tilbudt os at organisere debatscenen debat-scenen den sidste dag på Københavns alternative kunstmesse for selvorganiserede kunstnergrupper og udstillingssteder. Men sagen var at vi alle, uafhængigt af hinanden, var temmeligt kritiske og skeptiske overfor konventionelle debatformer.

Vores ide var at bryde med den konventionelle debatform, og arbejde med begreberne samtale og relation. Dette gjorde vi ved at invitede messe-deltagerne op på scenen, til skue for de øvrige messedeltagere. Hermed forsøgte vi at skabe en situation hvor informativ, verbal interaktion resulterede i en lige delt (intim) samtale og debat.

A DEBATE TREATMENT
Breaking up the conventional form of debate.

Collaboration with artists Kim Sandra Rask, Stine Gro and Christian Bang Jensen.

We were a group of four students from The Jutland Academy of Arts, The Funen Art Academy and The Royal Academy of Arts. We were invited to contribute to alt_cph by organizing the debate stage during the last day of the fair. But the thing is - independently of each other - we were all kind of critical or sceptical of the conventional debate form.

Therefore, we wanted to break up the conventional form of debate and illustrate the terms conversation and relation. In order to do this we invited the guests of the fair to get a massage from a professional masseur on the debate stage in front of the audience. By doing so, it is our intention to create a situation where informal, verbal interaction will result in an equal measure of (intimate) conversation and debate.
